50th Wedding Anniversary Party
September 12, 2008
We found out yesterday that dad will be discharged from the hospital next Saturday, December 20th! They came and did a home evaluation today, to make sure everything was set up that dad would need for when he returns home. There are only a few minor changes that need to be made. Dad also practiced being able to use his chair that takes him up and down the stairs, he practiced being able to get himself in and out of bed and on and off the couch, etc. He was able to do these things himself with a little assistance from us. It will just take a little practice to remember all the steps, but his therapist was very pleased. So were we. His therapist said today that he will probably need his wheelchair for a year or more, so please continue to pray for him. He is still working just as hard to regain his abilities, and we know that your faith, fasting and prayers have made a real difference in his recovery. He continues to improve in his walking, he is up to 160-170 feet each time he has therapy, if you have noticed he has an ace bandage wrapped around his foot and calf area. That is to hold his foot up so that he doesn't drag it, he hasn't gotten the ability to lift his toes up on his own, so they wrap his foot up so that it will stay up and he can walk more easily. Mom is doing much better and doesn't have pain in her ribs any more. She has been able to spend more time at the hospital as a result which has been great for both dad and mom.

That's awesome news! Congratulations grandpa! Love you and grandma so much!
