First Week Home

What amazing people!

Well, dad has been home one week and is still progressing. It's a good thing he is doing as well as he is with his walking because the doorways are not wide enough to get two people through them, so we hold onto dad's waist belt and a hand on his chest, but we are walking behind him. Thank goodness his balance is so good, we haven't had a problem. He still has great motivation, even though he loves to hassle us when we ask him if he is ready to walk or work on his arm. He likes to scoot himself around in his wheelchair as much as he can and is usually eager to get up and walk. The brace they had built for his right foot has really improved his walking and stability as well. He is going to be having therapy come in 3 times a week to keep him moving forward, and we will fill in the other days. He got up and went to church with mom last Sunday, and one lady commented that him and mom looked like angels sitting there in church. The Christmas Program I think is always the best Sacrament Meeting of the year and we were so glad dad was able to be home for that.

It was a teary farewell at Intermountain Medical Center the day that we left, we were all so grateful for all those who have been working with dad over the past month and a half. They are all such amazing people who really care about the people they are helping to recover. We are all eternally grateful for what they have done.

Christmas was great fun to spend with dad and mom, dad's sense of humor increased while he was in the hospital and he keeps us all laughing.
