Walking on his own!

Dad's making us a little nervous, but I guess we're glad he feels confidant in his balance. Mom told me yesterday that while she was in the kitchen dad, who was in the family room, stood himself up from his wheelchair, reached out and got his hemi-walker, and walked over to the window and was looking out. She just stood there and held her breath because she knew she couldn't get in there fast enough to help him. We've been getting dad up to the sink to wash dishes with us, he rinses them and puts them away. I got him into the kitchen and just about ready to start rinsing and his brother, Paul, showed up for a visit, which was wonderful. When Paul was ready to leave, I walked him to the door and when I came back into the kitchen, dad had gotten himself up from his wheelchair, walked himself over to the sink, just holding onto the counter top, and was ready to start doing the dishes. He also has been getting some movement in some of his fingers over the last several days. Yes!!!!
